Why the Yankees should keep Matt Harvey in a game longer than he’s been in it

New York Yankees ace Matt Harvey has been out of a game for nearly a month due to a sore back and is now set to return to the lineup Tuesday night.

The Yankees announced Monday that Harvey would not start against the Washington Nationals, who are also facing a major injury crisis with catcher Russell Martin out indefinitely with a strained hamstring.

If Harvey returns Tuesday, he will have missed the entire 2017 season, according to Baseball America.

He had missed just 10 games last season because of shoulder and back injuries.

Harvey, 30, has posted a 3.25 ERA with 3.6 K/9 and 2.6 BB/9 over his first seven seasons.
